Here's a weird one.

The bass is a fake because:
1-The rosewood fingerboard used on the Japanese fakers is usually darker than the real thing.
2-The triangle inlays have larger particles and more contrasting grains than the real thing...more like conventional shell inlay materials.
3-The neck heel shows it's a bolt-on neck.
4-The surrounding top edges of the bass pickup is narrower than the real thing. In fact, a fake bass pickup is slightly smaller in dimensions than the real thing. Same thing with a fake treble pickup and its surround.
5-The 4 holes in the tailpiece are rounder than those on the real thing. Typical on fake tailpieces.
6-The headstock of a fake 4001 is usually wider than the real thing.
