I own a Rick 4003, '82 Azure Blue.
Problem is, the standard strap pins are small and repeatedly slip from my straps (I own several, they all suffer from this).
I've got no confidence in myself not to drop the bass during a show as I like to jump around. I really don't want to drop my Rick, so I've retired my newly acquired Rick from the rotation until I can fix this up. So sad.
Please don't tell me to use gaffer tape on my bass.....
So I bought a set of Dunlop Dual Straplocks, just like I've done for every other bass I've ever owned since I converted to straplocks.
Only I have a problem....

As you can see, the diameter of the Dunlop supplied screw is a little thin for the hole in the bass. The Dunlop button won't allow a larger screw.
In the past, I've had two solutions for this.
I've found plugging the hole with matchsticks and glue to work, but is often a temporary measure IME.
In this case, the hole is quite large, I feel matchsticks isn't the right play here.
The other is the old chippy's trick of drilling out the hole a little larger, inserting/gluing in a dowel of an old drumstick (Hickory is hard) spun down on the lathe to the appropriate size to fit under the strap pin so the mod is hidden, and then screwing into that.
But I'd rather do something a little more reversible if possible.
So what do you guys use? Have you ever had this problem?
Is there a Straplock specifically out there that'll screw into the standard size Rick-hole? (yes I realise how that sounds)
Thanks
