"Teddy Boys Outside The Cavern"
The Beatles' Tough Period (1961)

Part 4: Conclusion

~ CONCLUSION ~

The vibrant scene of Liverpool during the 1960s may have been a breeding ground for a new independence, but with liberty brought some negative consequences such fights and arrests. However it is unlikely that this increased serious crime rates in Liverpool during this period. Most of the problems relating to the music scene were bar fights and drunken brawls, which are relatively much less serious offences than certain criminal act. So although the music of the 60's and 70's revolutionized the music world it hardly destroyed British society. Although music may not have directly caused the increasing crime in Liverpool, it is safe to say that it played a very large part in lives of all its citizens.

Scouser rock music, like any other timely trend, without a doubt had its effects on those who favoured it. Was this the cause for the influx of Liverpool’s crime? many beg to differ. Although sex, drugs and rock and roll was the message portrayed throughout the sixties, the crime rate increase could have been due to any number of mitigating circumstances. Population increase, many still suffering from economic fluctuations, drugs and alcohol, are all factors that contribute to the increase of crime in Liverpool. To say that the music of the time was a direct cause is unjust. The passionate beats of the undying rock and roll music is simply guilty of bringing the citizens of Liverpool together, in sometimes unbearable conditions, to laugh, sing, dance and experience the music in a manner that best suits them.
