~ The Cabaret Show Aboard The Olau Britannia ~ Comments by Ms. Wendy Burton |
The Olau Britannia was a huge luxury ferry ship which crossed the North Sea
from the United Kingdom to Holland. It was an overnight trip, and the Searchers used to
do the late night cabaret on board sometimes, and the afternoon show on the
trip back the next day - great times we had, although we were only on board
for 24 hours, we could "pretend" we were on a cruise (apart from the weather
of course!) It was very informal (particularly the afternoon show, which
were the only times I've ever seen them perform in casual clothes - normally
they always wear suits, collars and ties - very smart!). Unfortunately the
company went bankrupt and the route was discontinued.
