Re: RIP Ray Manzerek

What a band. The Doors epitomized Los Angeles in the late sixties. Ray Manzerek's musicianship was the heart of the group. Saw the Doors play at my High School in La Crescenta, California in the spring of 1967.

Re: KRLA Beat Byrds Articles COMPLETE!

Christian,

Thanks for doing this. It's another brutal winter day in Southern California (about 76 F in Pasadena this afternoon) while I'm reading these great articles on the Byrds you provided us. Hey, it's a tough job but somebody has to do it.

Re: George's Duo Jet Reissue

Incredibly lame. Fender has done such a great job with Gretsch, but I don't get the "Relic" thing. Never did, never will.

Re: The One That Got Away

Purchased a new Roger McGuinn 370/12 MapleGlo from Lloyd at Voltage Guitar in 1988 for around $1300. It took 10 days to get and I thought that was a long time! (I mean gee, their just down the road in Santa Ana, why so long?) Two years later I move out of state and sell the RM for $1200. just ...

There is a "special" place in guitar hell for people that do things like this.

Re: Can I get some input from older Beatle Fans?

In 1963 I was 13 and living in Frankfurt, Germany when I first heard the Beatles on Radio Luxembourg. What was so amazing is that they sounded like no one else, and that is why everybody (well, young people anyway) just flipped out. You have to understand, the Beatles were the FIRST. There were no ...

With the passage of time we forget how truly different they sounded from everything else that was being played on the radio. I first heard The Beatles on Radio Luxembourg in 1963 while living in Frankfurt, Germany. I was 13 and even for a musically unsophisticated kid I was just amazed. This was ...

Saw Sneaky Pete with the Flying Burrito Brothers in 1969 at the University Of California Irvine gym. The other band on the bill was Blues Image. What a show ! Saw him again in 78 or 79 playing with The New Riders of the Purple Sage at the Palomino in North Hollywood. His playing always left me with ...

Randy,

There are a few other differences. The SP has a narrower headstock, the back of the neck and body is a lighter color and the plastic cover for the electronics cavity
on the back of the body is triangular shaped. Having said this, take the $900.00 you will save buying the 6128T-1957 and ...

Well, this is just wonderful. A movie all about an insignificant little man that murdered one of the most
significant musicians of the 20th century. Think I'll pass
on buying a ticket to this tripe when it's released.

Book about Gene Clark

Hello fellow Byrds fans. Just finished reading "Mr. Tambourine Man" by John Einerson and highly recommend it. A truly sad story about the tremendously talented song writer and singer Gene Clark. Lots of history on the Byrds also.
