Re: 4003S in my future ?

I've got one made in 89. Looks like the nut measures 1 5/8ths. It feels very thin to me. Much thinner than a new one. Very light too.

Re: Rick for the blues

I use mine for blues, jazz, pop, and reggae. With flatwounds of course. The guys in my bands all absolutely love the Ric! They have all said that they like the sound of the Ric over the Fenders that I have. The drummer in my reggae band said he likes the sound but he doesn't care about that, it just ...

Re: 97 to current

I'm doing a trade. I'd go get a new one but they give much less for a trade. Although I may anyway. I'd actually prefer that.

Re: 97 to current

My 09 neck actually felt chunky. Espesially compared to my 89 which is perfect!

97 to current

A question for you experts. I traded away an 09 Ric and regretting it. I'm now in the process of replacing it. Was offered one from 97 and waned to know if there are any significant differences between 97 and 09. Pickups, neck width? Any tail lift problems back in 97? It looks like there is a little ...

Re: Late 80s 4001 basses

I just bought a 1989 4003s a couple of months ago. It's fantastic! It's lighter, and the neck is a little thinner than my 2009 Ric. I saw another 89 for sale recently as well on another forum.

Re: Pickguardian Bridge pickup cover

Thanks for the input guys. I went to install it and the holes were stightly off so unfortunatly it wouldn't fit on. I think I'll just keep it as is for now.

Pickguardian Bridge pickup cover

A couple of questions for someone who uses the Pickguardian bridge pickup cover (surround?). Do those springs fit back in? Can you install it without the clear plastic piece on the top or do you need shorter screws? Did you get any extra hum after you installed it. Thanks. Joe

Re: Neck cracks

I've got a 74 4001 that has the same type of repair. It was repaired before I got the bass also and it is very stable. Never had a problem with it. So don't give up on the bass, especially if you can get it for a decent price! IMG_2518.jpg

Yes. A decent price is the key. I had a Gibson that had ...

Wow. That looks like exacly what he described....Also,he said the nuts for the truss rod were stripped as well. I'm assuming those are easy to replace?

Neck cracks

Hey guys. I've been looking for my second Ric to be my back up, or roundwound string Ric. Found one at a pretty good price BUT... It has a crack in the back of the neck. On the G string side from the 3rd fret to the nut. The question is is this somthing that's fixable? Or somthing that I need to fix ...

Ohhhh..... How's the tension feel on the custom set? A lot less than 50-105 set?

Re: Favorite Flats

I did some more research and found that a 45-60-80-105 set of D'A Chromes would have an incredibly low tension RSD of 4%... Lower than TIs which I thought were the lowest at 8%. This means the aforementioned D'A set would be extremely well-balanced and even-toned.

Could you explain what RSD means ...
