Re: RRF CD3 - NOW ALIVE AND TAKING SUBMISSIONS
You're right up the street, Jeff. I'm in Akron at the south end of the Valley. Now I'm really bummed that I missed the chance to play that 12 when it was that close.

Re: RRF CD3 - NOW ALIVE AND TAKING SUBMISSIONS
That's a drag, I'd have loved to check out a 12. Bad timing on my part. What part of Ohio are you from, Jeff?

Re: RRF CD3 - NOW ALIVE AND TAKING SUBMISSIONS
Here's an offer, let me know if this is cool with you guys: I'm interested in checking out a Rick acoustic. If there's someone in the general area of northeast Ohio who wouldn't mind letting me play yours, I'd be glad to record something with it and submit it for the CD. I can bring recording gear ...

Re: Rick acoustics?
Love the suits. Do they come with the guitar? I know this is going to be very subjective, but how do they sound? More like a Martin, a Gibson, a Taylor? Like something else?

Rick acoustics?
I'm pretty new to the forum, but you guys have me interested. I know Rick made great lap steels (those go in the "coolest sounds in the world" category), electric guitars and basses. How about acoustics? I don't know that I've ever seen a Rick acoustic.

Re: MC5 "Looking At You" Live, Rick content
These guys were one of my major, major influences when I first started playing guitar. Easily one of the greatest rock bands ever, so why do so few people know them?

Re: Paging Jim Krause!!!
Yeah, McTell was one of the few who really played 12-string, and didn't just do the strummer/thumper approach. Barbecue Bob was pretty cool too. Same with Robert Jr. Lockwood - he played some great electric 12 stuff (acoustic too). Too bad there aren't more of the contemporary players doing Piedmont ...

Re: Paging Jim Krause!!!
I lost touch with Warren & Janell a few years back. Tell them I said "Hey". The blind dead (or just dead) guys were the coolest. You listen to very much Blake or Fuller?

Re: Paging Jim Krause!!!
Glad you guys like the tunes, it's always nice to hear. I live in Akron, a few miles south of Peninsula, and I do teach at Woodsy's. Mostly what I do is play all over Ohio, sometimes out west. The young Jorma clip is cool. Him, Ry Cooder And David Bromberg were some of my main influences when I ...
