Re: Capri Alert - Clarence Gatemouth Brown

My '59 345 looks just like Gatemouth Brown's. Could it be?

There is a close-up of the tuning keys at 2:54. They look to me to have a different shape. But the video quality isn't very good. Maybe yours is the one SRV once played. The Youtube clip is from the TV show "The Beat" with host Hoss Allen ...

Re: 360/12CW Truss Rod issue

Hi Guys-

I've removed the truss rods. They are straight in the cavity area, but are bent slightly at the adjustment end. The threads have sustained a bit of deformity particularly where the bend occurs and have begun to strip on one side of the bend.

So the first order of business, is to ...

Re: 360/12CW Truss Rod issue

Thanks, Ken. That sounds like what I might be dealing with. Yikes! I've worked with thin CA glue on my son's RC airplanes. It is notoriously hard to control once out of the bottle. The thought of turning it loose on a finely finished RIC is a bit daunting.

360/12CW Truss Rod issue

I've a 360/12CW that I bought used. It appears to have some sort of truss rod issue. I can adjust the dual truss rods to give me the desired flatness of the neck. It will be fine for quite some time. But I don't play this guitar much and it stays in its case. After a period of months, I find that ...

I saw the Byrds at the county fairgrounds in Wheaton Illinois sometime after Crosby's departure. McGuinn played a Gretsch Country Gent exclusively all evening through a Fender Twin Reverb. There was NO Rickenbacker in sight.

Here is mine. Unfortunately, the pedals and mechanism were gutted at some point. Kenny, are there any blueprints for the pedal mechanisms lying on a dusty shelf in the factory somewhere? Or better yet, a stash of pedal spare parts?

I acquired a one owner '68 360/12FG with not only a white nut, but had the strings arranged in the "Traditional" 12 string arrangement rather than the RIC arrangement that we all know and love. The owner claimed he bought the guitar brand new after returning from Viet Nam and that's the way it came ...

Yes, this was discussed here quite some time ago. In fact, I hold that discussion thread directly responsible for the near simultaneous failure of the chrome R tailpiece on my '67 330/12.

Personally, I find it annoying that RIC has chosen to enlist their customers in the global war against ...
