Well, since no one else has said what needed to be said.
Happy Birthday ( 10/10) John... who would have been 74 yesterday had it not been for the insanity of celebrity worship and guns.
He gave so much and changed so many lives, mine in particular.
Just contemplating the music he still had to offer ...

Re: Back From Rio
John,
Thanks for the info. We can only hope that the existing version of the complete Back to Rio will one day see the light of day in whatever form. I'd love to hear it.
Since you have an insiders knowledge, are there any other unreleased songs or outtakes that were recorded but not included on ...

Re: Back From Rio
As far as a Byrds reunion, we've had it. Impossible now since the passings of Gene and Mike. The closest we get are those few occasions since NBB when you have three or four of the founding memebers performing or recording together. Of those we have quite a few. Recordings of the Boarding House ...

Nice try.... George is playing his rosewood Tele. Just sounds like a bass.

Re: "It Won't Be Wrong" Lick
In addition to the 12 string Ric and the Crosby part it's also the timing. I found this live version from the reunion where they come pretty close to nailing it.

Re: Gene's Byrds
Not the Byrds by a long stretch... but not a bad showing by Gene backed by a competant band.
Forget the hype about them being The Byrds, and it's not such a bad live performance.
Gene and his not-the-Byrds band also perforemed Turn Turn Turn on the same Solid Gold show. I haven't seen that anywhere ...

Christian,
First of all, from one Byrds fan to another, thanks so much for all of your efforts and generosity to make so much Byrds and related video, recordings, etc. available. I especially enjoyed the clip of It's No Use and only wish that the entire clip might be available sometime in the ...

Re: Original 5 Live, 1966
The Byrds did lip sync Tambourine Man on their one and only Ed Sullivan appearance... but the clip above is a "live" performance of Turn Turn Turn from that show. According to what I've read about these Sullivan Shows groups sometimes would pre-record live during the rehersals and then performed ...

I've seen that in several pics of his rick from around this time period... I was thinking it may have been some sort of early onboard guitar tuner.

Re: King of the Hill
I thought I read somewhere that the song King of the Hill was loosely based on John Philips... which sort of makes sense.
However I always thought it was sort of eerie how it predates yet seems to suggest the OJ Simpson case!

Re: JangleBox JB2 Byrds Limited Edition
Interesting question... so does anyone know how Roger does/did it with his Rick? Does he run it in stereo Ric-O-Sound ? If I recall somewhere I read that he uses two Jangleboxes in his stage set up... I was thinking he ganged them ala the original studio method, but this discussion leads me to think ...

Re: New McGuinn DVD
Evidently the DVD is in the post production phase... according to this recent Rolling Stone interview. Sounds like it's an April First ( McGuinn- McGuinn) production.

Re: Atlantic City Pop Festival 1969 rare photo
The night before the Atlantic City Pop Festival I saw The Byrds, Joe Cocker and I think Bonnie Raitt at Farleigh Dickenson Univ. in Rutherford, NJ.
An EXCELLENT show.... Joe and the Grease Band (damn they could kick it good) and The Byrds who as always during this period put on a really hot show.
