Happy Birthday ( 10/10) John... who would have been 74 yesterday had it not been for the insanity of celebrity worship and guns.
He gave so much and changed so many lives, mine in particular.

The closest we get are those few occasions since NBB when you have three or four of the founding memebers performing or recording together. Of those we have quite a few. Not the Byrds by a long stretch... but not a bad showing by Gene backed by a competant band.
Forget the hype about them being The Byrds, and it's not such a bad live performance.
Gene and his not-the-Byrds band also perforemed Turn Turn Turn on the same Solid Gold show. I haven't seen that anywhere ...

I've seen that in several pics of his rick from around this time period... I was thinking it may have been some sort of early onboard guitar tuner.

I thought I read somewhere that the song King of the Hill was loosely based on John Philips... which sort of makes sense.
However I always thought it was sort of eerie how it predates yet seems to suggest the OJ Simpson case!
