He is so good with Ricks. As well as "other" guitars! He inspired me to get my 330/12 back in '89

My thoughts are if Apple ever started to manage bands, or sign them to some cool "Apple" record label, we'd have some validity to the lawsuit. Ironically, Apple today is more associated with the computers and not the Beatles' company. Except for us of course! To bust balls, I think that Pa...

Hi,

Sounds like a doubled, thin-sounding (bridge PU) that could've been run through effect such as the leslie. Very "chorusy". It sounds like a Ric 12, I think, more due to the arpeggio style playing. It lends itself to that. Certainly would've sounded cool with a real one!

I'd say content first, then fidelity. I love great sounding recordings, but there are a lot of GREAT songs that have bad recording qualities to them. But sometimes that's what makes them great. Take early Who and Kinks. Very ****** production compared to the Beatles. It was like every recording leve...

Hi all, At the big break with the drums, Bass, etc...(2:31-2:28), I hear pretty much a guitar that sounds like the Baritone bass they used. It's also present, although very hard to hear in the beginning. You hear the tone, but no bass loudness or present. It's playing the low notes and I think 5ths ...

I agree with those who say "Murmur" and "Reckoning". Another band to look into was The Smiths. "Hatful of Hollow" has excellent Rick 6 and 12 string on it. One of the best British alternative bans from the 80's. "William, It Was Really Nothing" and "Heave...

Not that it helps to place the image date, but those Cadillacs' body styles were from '65-'68.

Besides the usual Beatles stuff, I play some originals I had written and recorded. But also: The Smiths (Johnny Marr, guitarist) "William it was really nothing" "Heaven knows I'm miserable now" R.E.M. (Peter Buck) "So. Central Rain" Lloyd Cole & The Commotions (Neil...

I don't think it's really going to make a difference. It was a very midrangey crunchy distorted sound (and VERY cool). You'd probably get that with humbuckers more than single coils. It would certainly help. But if you're picking guitars, I'd say the SG because the bridge pickup is hotter and would ...

Alex. I have no doubt George could play the solo, but I think for the recorded song, they creatively did it another way. We know he can play it based on Hollywood Bowl show, which is pretty easy to hear. I just listened to again it and he's playing it higher up versus the lower registers. What we we...

Not really! You must have some stuff to reference ; - ) Excellent.

But like In My Life, I believe it was a sped up piano with acoustic playing higher.

Since I play piano as well, I'm more in tune with picking it up in a mix. Too bad I don't have those "reference materials".

As far as what the actual instruments were playing the solo on the song, someone's got to find a bootleg of the first generation of HDN (outakes etc...) and hear what was recorded at that stage. I've heard Help! before like this and it's a great way to hear the first level for detail. But it would o...

Hi,

I've used my 330/12 as a lead on a few songs. And I'm not talking chimey/jangley here! I dialed up some crunch and went with it. It worked great. Not for all things, but you have to experiment.

Wolfgang, I agree on the solo for the record. It's not a 12 string at all, but an acoustic playing the high notes while the piano is playing an octave below. I can see how that could've been sped up, but like you, I think the ending was played regular speed. That's not a hard part. I think maybe the...
