I thought of that when I had the CII John.
The only problem is that I would think you would have to "de-button" the high gains due to string clearance problems. Not a big task, but a little out of my field. I also was on the bubble with the toasters,,but in the end, I just surrendered and traded it to Jeff Rath.
I will try a Larado though..

I've had both toasters and hb's in a Cii and I think the biggest difference(for me) was amp selection. I replaced the toasters with the hb's because they complimented the B string frequencies better. I wasn't satisfied with the hb's when played through an Ampeg or Eden amp. When I got my Markbass amp the hb's became much more detailed and clear, combined with a Sansamp RBI I was finally satisfied with the tone. I think the biggest issue with people going from 4001/3 to 4004 is the perceived "muddiness" or thickness in the bass tone, a bass amp with enhanced clarity will definitely help in this area.

I've been looking at photos of Hawaii, trying to decide which hotel to stay in and what to do during my vacation there, after SoCal in September. The blueburst reminds me of the glorious beach photos I've been gazing at, as I sit here in the cold, cold darkness of winter

Darren, if you're interested in fine dining and will be in or near Honolulu, drop me a note. I was there last year and can make some nice recommendations.
I was in Melbourne last year too, and we ate very well there as well.
Er, sorry for the thread drift. Eating is one of my other major hobbies.
