Was Fireglo an option on the 4004's back in 1997? Ebay link:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3708510054&category=4713
John,
On the bottom of the baseplate are screws that attach the tailpiece that the strings and intonation screws go through, I have taken this piece off! I have seen this same type of ABM bridge on Pedulla basses and I have seen the same type of ABM bridge with string slots in the tailpiece. In fact, doesn't the photo on your website show the 4004/5Cii with string slots on the bridge? I think would be a very nice feature for those of us that switch back and forth between different strings depending on the gig or recording, like I do between roundwounds and flatwounds.

Are you saying the complete bridge including the tailpiece section is one solid item (discounting the saddles of course)? If so, the bridge that came on my new 4004Cii was replaced by Mike Parks before he shipped it to me. I have the ABM bridge that came on Jeff Rath's 4004L, and it also has a removeable tailpiece. This is very curious.
