Paul, it's certainly possible that some use lemon rind, I haven't looked at any MSDS, but I have looked at product labels such as Hope's. And you certainly know more than I about the possible toxicity of the chemicals in these products. I just didn't want Peter to overlook the possibilty that it's s...

Peter, the bottle is at a neighbor's right now and they're not home, so I don't know what the bottle says. I'll find out later. But I'd say yes, because I'm pretty sure it's not a vegetable oil. Even nontoxic, edible mineral oil is a petroleum distillate. If you're reacting to a petroleum distillate...

Sorry to be late to this party, but I believe you're overlooking something very important: Lemon oil products for wood don't contain oil extracted from lemon rind or peel. They contain oil extracted from lemongrass. And it's there for the aroma, not for cleaning purposes. I'm mentioning this only be...

Brian, are you talking about nylon tapewounds? They aren't coated flats, they are a core wire wrapped with flat nylon ribbon. The ones I know of are made by LaBella, Rotosound, GHS and Status. I've used LaBellas and Rotos, the LaBellas are much livelier sounding. Neither really sound like flats, the...

Kenn, I think you're right. I was going from memory since I've sold both. But it must have been the 2001 color. I do remember that the 330 was made several months into the following year, but that must have been 2002. What I was forgetting is that Burgundy came the year between DG and MB. Since MB w...

Just for the record, DG was the 2002 color, with later orders being made in 2003 (my 330 had a 2003 s/n). The SG was the 2001 color, with ones ordered at the end no doubt being made in 2002. I do remember seeing that DG 4004 but not a v63, pretty sure the v63 was gone by 2002. And yes, Paul, the Che...

Fred's site is http://www.hammoneng.com/ . David is right, these are made by Fred himself. They are re-engineered versions of the Hagstrom-made Bi-Sonics used on 60s Guilds. But I haven't heard them, other than Fred's sound samples. They get rave reviews but I sure wouldn't put them in an expensive ...

Bob, I didn't mean to imply any snobbery from you or anyone else in this thread. But they're out there in the world, no doubt about it. I think you should start a poll on whether or not you should be allowed to start any more polls. But only if you agree to abide by the results. http://archives.rick...

I would say 95% of bassist's use fingers nowadays Maybe in your world, Bob. Or maybe on the Boston scene. But when I see a rock band, locally or on TV, I'd say at least 75% of the time the bassist is using a pick. Let's face it. There are plenty of fingerstyle rockers (myself included) but there ar...

..if it were a fretless I might have it in my closet now, along with Moms Mabley. Jeff, I think Moms was pretty much out of the closet. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But I don't understand why she's in a bass thread, since she played a 350SH (or maybe the extremely rare 350MM). http://...
