Volume off, sound still comes through the amp

A friend just got a new 650. When the neck pu volume is on 10, bridge on 0, selector on bridge, sound of playing can still be heard through the amp. The same occurs when reversing guitar settings. The guitar is new, pu's are wired to selector switch, to caps, and to volume pots. Looking for solution ...

Re: Replacing strap bolts?

I swapped out the bolts from my v64 and they fit the v63. Thanks for answering.

Replacing strap bolts?

Which strap bolt is the correct one for replacing the old style with new on a v63? I need to set up all my guitars and basses for straplocks. No mods, just want to unscrew and install the bolt. Item #5901 is larger but listed for a 4003. Item #5904 is smaller, looks right, but is it adequate for the ...

Re: What's the deal with the Janglebox?

I have also tried a JB with my ABM 500. I didn't like the results. The amp sounds fine to me without anything. Just turn it up and add gain for more drive. I run mine through a pair of Bergintino 12's.

I'm also waiting to hear of any preference for either brass or aluminum tailpeices. I'm not having any shortage of sustain presently on my v63, running through an ABM500/Bergintino rig.
The aluminum is preferred for tone on Les Pauls guitars. But I don't want a bright bass either, I like the soft ...

I'm considering putting a cap on the neck pu of my v64/12. I find it has too much bass for my liking. If anyone has tried this, I would appreciate your opinion also, and tell value of the cap you used.

Have You Seen Her Face

A good song, very 60s'ish. Anyone know the lead guitar riff played over the verse chords. Who played it on the record, and what guitar was used. I like the arpeggio picking and bends, nice technique.

Ken, thanks for the information. I wasn't aware of the white fretboard.
Ted, nice bass. The one I was looking at was very yellow, but no chips or dings that were noticeable. The owner thought it was a 4001, I'm not sure. Any ideas what a custard ric would fetch?

Tuxedo question

I came across a very yellowed tux, I think a 4001 with 2 output jacks. I dated the bass at the RIC site as 1990. Will any rubbing compound remove the custard yellow. The sharp edges are white, so I'm wondering if there is any hope of maybe offwhite or cream coloring with a little work. Its a player ...

I would add some Tom Petty and also the Searchers with Rick 12's. Paint It Black sounds good on 12 in lieu of a sitar, and Tell Me by the Stones.

Thanks for the responses, very informative. I decided to try the Chromes 45-100 because they were available locally and priced right for experimentation. I didn't notice the word nickel on the box, I don't know why but I expected to. I am concerned about fret wear so the next set will have a nickel ...

Flatwound question again

Never tried them, time to replace the Ric rounds.
Which set of flatwounds to purchase for a v63? I don't want to file the nut slots just to try them.

[Tube amps are a different beast. The output tranny is an impedance matching device. Any speaker impedance above OR below the optimum will decrease power........ OR you could use the 16 ohm tap to loosen the bass response and increase distortion with a slight decrease in power output. You will hear ...

Update........
I've check ground continuity, tests ok. All solder joints appear good. The Ric'O Sound jacks were replaced. Snugged up the truss rods a bit more. Action is adequate to rule out fret buzzing. The strings clear the pu's. The owner opted to replace the strings and intonate himself ...
