My 4001v63 may have been out of adjustment when I bought it but when I put TI Jazz flats on it, it didn't need any adjustment and plays even better.

Re: Deluxe/Cove Tubeampology Treble Bezel Reviews
I spoke to Frank about his bezel as to whether or not it would fit my 4001v63. He said he thought the chrome surround was the same as the 4003 but the v63 pickup has larger dimensions. He said if it was the same, I could send him the dimensions of the pickup and he would make one to fit. Can anyone ...

Re: They're calling this a 4003, but...
YES, I missed the horshoe pickup and I own a 4001v63! I guess the toaster pickup, dots and no binding distracted me.
I haven't seen a 4003 without the inlay and binding.

songdog,
I enjoy using an Alembic F2-B tube preamp with ROS. It has two channels and a separate output for each channel. If you use a stereo power amp and two cabinets, you have the best of all possible worlds for ROS.

Re: Warmest Flatwound?
I use TI Jazz flats on all my basses (4001v63, F-Bass BNF5, '66 PBass, Warwick Thumb 5, Sadowsky Metro, and Atelier Z ATB1) except my Fender Japan '57 PBass which has Sadowsky flats on it and my Hofner 500/2 which has Pyramid flats on it. I don't think they are the warmest but there are other factor...

The price just keeps coming down. No surprise they haven't sold out.

Re: Rickenbacker vs Fender (Side by Side)
When comparing the quality of a Fender Jazz bass to a Rickenbacker, I think you need to compare the American Vintage Series '62 Jazz bass.

Re: Sunn Amps?
In '63 a bass player was lucky if s/he had an 85 watt Fender Showman with one 15" JBL D140 speaker. I didn't start playing electric bass until '65. The first Sunn amps used Dynaco power amps that were rated at 60 watts RMS (2 KT88s). The biggest Sunn amp was the 2000S which only produced 120 wa...

Re: Sunn Amps?
Not to be annoying, but I LOVE the sound of JBL speakers, especially 4" voice coils and AlNiCo magnets. AND, they go great with an all-tube Sun 0))) amp. In the early '70s I used TWO Sunn 200S cabinets (2X15 JBL D140 speakers each) with a '69 Ampeg SVT and a burgundy '72 4001 with Rotosound fla...

Re: Strings issue.
I'm using Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flats (043, 056, 070, 100) on my 4001v63. I'd like to try some Pyramids though.
