The first time I heard Pete Seeger play live was a solo performance at the Univ. of Colorado in 1966. I was blown away by his guitar playing skills. I knew he could play the banjo, but the guitar work (particularly on the Martin D-12-20 he played) was just stellar.

When I saw the BYRDS play live in around '67, their stage amps were indeed Fender Dual Showmans.

From McGuinn I learned that EMH, MTM and the rest of the original songs were all recorded on an Epiphone amp with a single 12" speaker. It was just sitting there in the studio and since none of THE BYRDS owned an amp at the time (!), they used it.

Saw Gene and his Byrds group perform around 1985 at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, CA.

Gene's singing wasn't so hot, but the guy on the 12-string was really nailing everything. In fact, he did almost a 10 MINUTE solo on EMH that had the crowd standing and just going nuts!

Got my JangleBox today and it is a winner! It clearly outperforms the BOSS CS-3 I had been using with my '66 Ricky 360-12 when it comes to getting The BYRDS sound.

I still prefer the sound of running the JangleBox into my BOSS RV-3 Digital Reverb/Delay set (l to r) at "9:00", "9:00", "9:00", "5 ...
