John was screwed over the years, he signed away his songs to Fantasy Records. They claimed they owned ALL the songs he wrote for Creedence. When he wrote Centerfield they sued him for sounding too much like himself. His brother Tom (rhythm guitar) also agreed with Fantasy Records, so they never ...

Another vote for the Pyramids. The GHS Precision flats are also very good. Strings are a personal call, the Chromes, Labella's, and the TI's are all great flats, but IMHO the edge goes to Pyramids or GHS.

I use an Eden WT-800 with a 2x10 and 1x15. I love the sound, very full, deep and round. Very easy to move around also.

Bob, on both of my 4003's I had to reverse the saddle for the E string to get the proper intonation. I was wondering if you had the same problem with your Pyramids. Once I set it its ok. One set is a little over 2 years old and intonation is still right on. I put half rounds on one bass and had to ...

I put the half rounds on last night, I could see how you say they sound like dead rounds, but they are a lot brighter then my flats, and still had a good bottom end like flats. I thought they were pretty bright sounding, but they did replace a 2 year old set of Pyramids. I'll see how they sound with ...

Thanks for all the input. I love the sound of flats, but when I put on the elixir's, the Ric growl came back. I want to try the D'Addario XL's just to hear what they sound like. Then I just might go back to the Chromes. The fireglo will keep the Pyramids on it, and I'll try a few other sets on my ...

"We have a saying here: Friends don't let friends play round wounds, haha! courtesy of Dave Westheimer."

That's great. I like Chromes, they are great sounding flats. The problem is there are too many types of strings today. Way back when, you went into a store and bought what was on the shelf ...

I know Ted, I've been reading the flat's verses rounds thread Image. Everyone likes one type or the other, but they never mention the brand they use. There are SOOOO many brands out there, I'd just like to try a few that most of you like.

Please help an old guy off flat's

Please help get an old guy off of flats. I played in bands in the 60's and early 70's on the Jersey shore, stopped playing for 28 years, then 5 years ago my old drummer gave me a call, you know the rest. I went back to the old flatwound strings, hey it's what I knew. I tried most of them and settled ...

Elixir Strings

Im a flatwound guy, I usually use Pyramids or Chromes. I want to try a set of rounds on one of my 4003's and I thought the Elixir polyweb's looked interesting. Does any one use them, how do they sound, and how well does the coating last over time. I also see DR has coated strings. Has anyone tried ...

Between Annie Haslam's voice and John's bass playing, I don't know which stood out more in any Renaissance song. I've seen them a few times here in Jersey, in fact Annie has done a few solo dates here also. I've heard she is singing in a church choir in Pennsylvania somewhere.
