He had sold/given away his Taurus pedals (after sampling them.) In a new interview in the latest (and final) issue of Bass Guitar he talks about how their new producer Nick Raskulinecz was a huge fan of Taurus pedals and coaxed Geddy to the point where he actually had to go back and re-acquire them ...

The Punch Factory is true bypass. A quick way to tell if a pedal is true bypass is to put it in your signal chain without any batteries or power source. If you get signal through the pedal while it's unpowered when you click to bypass, it's true bypass. I just tried this with my own Punch Factory to ...

"Far Cry" isn't really indicative of the album at all, IMO. The rest of the album sounds, I think, quite different for Rush. Lots of acoustic guitar including a short acoustic guitar solo piece; Alex really shines on this album. It's a very lush album that reveals its nuances with repeated ...

I never thought this was a "problem," but just the way the circuit is designed.

When the pickup selector is in the middle position, both tone controls are in the common path taken by both pickups, and therefore either tone control will bleed off highs from the output.

Direct quote from John Hall on the official RIC forum:

"But I'll talk about the pole pieces. Yes, the modern Hi Gains, those with the molded bobbin can have the pole pieces removed, replaced, or readjusted, even though that wasn't part of the design. The older ones, however, where the pole pieces ...

That chorus-like sound on Moving Pictures was some sort of delay/doubler unit the engineer fed Geddy's signal through during post. Can't remember what it was right off the top of my head, but Geddy commented on it in a recent interview in Bass Player.

Guys, you're never gonna tear that Jazz out of Geddy's hands. He's been saying in interviews since 1980, long long long before any endorsed Fender signature model, how much he loves that bass and how lucky he was to find it in a pawn shop for cheap. He was fated to play that very bass. That bass was ...

Installing an Accent vibrato on a 330/360/etc

Kinda searched around, I think I found the answer, but to install a vibrato on a 330 or 360 or what-have-you, it's just a matter of removing the "R" tailpiece and screwing in the vibrato in its place, right? Piece o' cake and easy as pie, more or less?

That chorus-like sound on Moving Pictures was probably a Loft delay unit. I read just the other day in (I think) last month's Bass Player where Geddy said that Paul Northfield (Rush's engineer at that time) would take Geddy's signal and run it through a Loft unit and pan it so to give Geddy's tone ...

Carvin hosts forums on their corporate website, and they're run in a similar manner to the RIC forums in that discussing customer service issues are against forum rules, and such cases should be dealt with in private with the company.

I can understand such policies, especially on a corporate ...

Personally, I don't mind one bit that Ricks aren't as ubiquitous as Fenders and Gibsons. When I see someone playing a Rickenbacker guitar or bass, I get the feeling they really wanted to be a part of that unique Rickenbacker "fellowship" and they're not just following the herds.

Chris used the Electra a lot during the Drama years. The flanged line from Tempus Fugit is a classic example.
