I would have to keep my 73 FG 4001 and off the 05 4003, just because I prefer playing the 73 to the new one, I think its the neck, although i never plan on getting rid of either, i think my kids will get them in the will

I have read about people putting those SD pickups in and having to relocation or bore out the holes in the pickgaurds in certain cases because they don't match up perfectly or are too small

My 73 4001

I have a 73' 4001 and it plays so good I can't hardly put it down. However all the years of age have pretty much killed the pickups, and whoever had it last did a brutal job rewiring it to try to compensate for the lack of pickup output. I recently cleaned it all up and rewired it back the way it sh...

Parts question

Got a question. I have a 05' 4003 and a Nov. 73' 4001, are the tailpeice, bridge and pickups interchageable between the two? i am talking about hole spacings and so on. I was also wondering if anyone knows if there was several different versions of tone/vol knobs that came stock from 73', they look ...

If the price stays low he won't get it trust me, I'd rather he didn't paint it blue and sell it for 4000 dollars

Is there not a certain vintage markup so to speak added to older models in good shape. I thought it was a decent price for that bass. The emperor however, and definately GC are nuts on those things, and they keep relisting at the same price for weeks straight. I thought about that 4000 if they would...

I play my ric's mostly with a pic, I use fingers on a couple of other basses I have. But then picks don't work on those ones nearly as good. Due to that pickup guard I learned to play mostly between the bridge pickup and the bridge/tailpeice. I have since removed the pickup cover but it didn't affec...
